This past month, Atlanta companies hosted a series of conferences which touted Blockchain as a major theme. The 2nd Annual Atlanta Blockchain Meetup Conference which boasts over 3,000 members and monthly meetings at the Atlanta Tech Village which incubated the world’s largest Bitcoin sculpture, held their event at Georgia State University. The Technology Association of Georgia celebrated the Top 40 innovative companies across the state. Other events, like the Inaugural Atlanta Blockchain Week and the Atlanta Blockchain Experience focus on establishing Atlanta as a global hub for blockchain innovation and investment. Household organizations such IEEE, will host their 2nd Annual International Conference on Blockchain in Atlanta.
According to a recent report put out by the Technology Association of Georgia in conjunction with Georgia Institute of Technology, there are over twenty companies devoted to blockchain in the metro-Atlanta area. These include, BitPay, the largest Bitcoin payment processor; Storj and Patientory, which were the city's first 2 token sales. Several big corporations that call Atlanta home are also experimenting with blockchain; familiar names among others include Coca-Cola, State Farm, and UPS. Don Fortner, CEO of Valsurity and Ambassador to the Patientory Association describes it as “great step toward Atlanta becoming a Blockchain hub the same way it is a Fintech hub.”
